The Idaho Mythical Minor Leagues were pure magic.
For more than 80 years, through the alchemy of baseball, farm boys from Hill City could go toe-to-toe against future lawyers from Boise … and triumph. Men from towns that weren’t much more than rocky outcroppings could suddenly make the covers of newspapers from the Idaho World to the Coeur d’Alene Evening Press. It was, as Gov. Barzilla Clark put it during the celebration for the league’s 25th anniversary, “Our greatest balm, our greatest thrill, and a hell of a way to spend a summer day.” The IMML may be gone, but its style lives on forever.
